Helium Rental Safety Precautions

and Balloon Inflation Instructions

You have just rented a helium tank from Boswell's. We want this to be not only an enjoyable experience, but also a safe experience. Please follow these safety precautions closely, helium is not flammable but it is under considerable pressure so it can be dangerous.

1. Never transport tank with helium valve attached, this can be dangerous, and could damage an expensive valve.

2. Always have safety collar on when you are not using the tank.

3. Secure tank in a safe place that is not exposed to high foot traffic when filling balloons.  If the tank is knocked over it can be very dangerous.

4. Secure the tank in your car, do not let it bang around. These tanks are heavy and can damage your car if they are not secured. Boswell's assumes no liability for any damage caused by a helium tanks, or the loading of a helium tank. We will help load the tank as a service to the customer, but the customer assumes all liability for any damage while being loaded or transported.

Balloon filling instructions:

1. When inflating balloons, do not overfill balloons. If the bottom of the balloon begins to become pear shaped it is overfilled. The bottom of the balloon should remain rounded.

2. Overfilling balloons will result in less balloons being inflated than you expected.

Helium Valve Instructions:

1. Screw the male threads of the valve into the female threads of the helium tank. Do not use a wrench.

2. Open helium valve all the way open.

3. Put the balloon on the end of the flex tip, tilt the flex tip and fill balloon as described above.

4. When finished:

 a. Close helium valve. b. Bleed valve by tilting flex tip. c. Remove valve. d. Replace collar

Safety warning:

All helium tank cylinders need to be secured; this is the renter's responsibility. Helium is a non-toxic, non-flammable gas, however it is dangerous to breathe in the gas from the cylinder, or even from an inflated balloon. We recommend that you transport the helium tank cylinder in the trunk of your car. If you must transport it in the passenger compartment, make sure it is secured and you have at least one window open at all times.

Never leave a tank in a hot car.!!!
